Microsoft “will Kill Google”

It sounds like a temper tantrum from an angry adolescent whose body has outgrown his brain. The topic of the tantrum was Google CEO Eric Schmidt. The tantrum was had by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who supposedly screamed, “I’m going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to fucking kill Google.”

Just before this, he had thrown a chair across the room. The tantrum occurred after Mark Lucovsky, a Microsoft senior engineer, had told Ballmer that he was leaving Microsoft for Google last November.

Mr. Lucovsky disclosed this story in court documents filed as part of a lawsuit by Microsoft against Google trying to prevent them from stealing away another employee, Kai-Fu Lee.

Ballmer says the story is greatly exaggerated: “Mark Lucovsky’s account of our conversation last November is a gross exaggeration of what actually took place. Mark’s decision to leave was disappointing and I urged him strongly to change his mind. But his characterization of that meeting is not accurate.”

Microsoft is seeking an injunction preventing Lee from joining Google, and the hearing will take place Tuesday in King County Superior Court. Google has filed a countersuit in California court.

It sounds like the corporate equivalent of temper tantrums from two companies going through their adolescence….
