Memorial Day Outing

Today was a spectacular, sunny day, so I went out flying in the mountains just to the east of my home in Redmond, WA. Here are a few images (click for a larger version).

This is somewhere just east of Skykomish, WA, looking south, flying over U.S. 2.

And here is the view looking north.

If I am not mistaken, this is Gunn Peak.

And this is a little to the south (over Index), looking east up the Skykomish valley.

Looking down on Index, a train can be seen traveling around that large horseshoe-shaped segement of track.

Here is the view from just south of Sultan, WA (flying west). That long road is Sultan Basin road. The west end of a small grass strip (Sky Harbor Airport) can be seen below a long row of houses near the south end of the visible part of the road.

I capped off the fun with some short-field landing and take-off practice at the little airport in Monroe, WA.
