State of The Onion
Next Tuesday at 6:00 pm Pacific time, George Bush will deliver his State of The Union address. Will he point out that the U.S. is bankrupt? That we have failed in Iraq? That the U.S. government is illegally spying on its people. That the economy is still sluggish? That we are making no headway in the perpetual War on TerrorTM? That Republican scandals have undermined American’s faith in politicians?
Probably not.
Expect to hear: “It is a dangerous world, and I need the Terrorist Spying ProgramTM to protect your liberties—and it is 100% legal, I have no doubts whatsoever.”
Rather than listening to the real thing, maybe I’ll settle for this approximation.
If you are near a computer, though, check out Think Progress‘ SOTU Live-Blogging on the event.
And, after it is over, head to the nearest Drinking Liberally and figure out something productive to do with your horror, anger, etc.
Updates:
Noemie Maxwell at Washblog points out that “Representative McDermott will be blogging … on Washblog about 30 minutes after the speech.” So, Washblog is the place to be for Washingtonians after the the SOTU address.
Some local bloggers are planning to show up at the Montlake Ale House at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, to watch the SOTU address. Please join us!

Remember I said this:
He will mention Iran and Palestine in the same sentence.
He will mention Iran’s Nuke Program.
He will say that more needs to be done to stop Iran.
I sure hope not… but I have a strange feeling…
Gerald
