Poll: Bush at 25%

Last week George W. Bush tied Nixon when he sunk to a record low 26% approval in the Harris Poll.

Another week, another record. This time it is an American Research Group (ARG) poll where Bush has sunk to to a record low 25% approval, and a record high 71% disapproval (with 4% undecided):

Among Republicans (30% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 68% approve of the way Bush is handling his job and 26% disapprove. Among Democrats (37% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 1% approve and 97% disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job. Among independents (33% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 18% approve and 79% disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president.

(The telephone poll was conducted from 18 Jul to 21 Jul on 1,100 adults. The margin of error is ±3%.)

One percent approval and 97% disapproval among Democrats? Wow! I guess Bush doesn’t have to appease Democrats any more.

At some point between now and Nov 2008, the 2/3 of Republicans who approve of Bush’s job performance will need to go into damage-control mode. Then Bush will truly, and for the first time, live up to his self-proclaimed title as “a uniter, not a divider.”

Who know he meant…united in disapproval.
